I happened to tune into MPT the other evening to watch "Phantom of the Opera," and of course it was being aired during their annual membership drive.  I chuckled to myself (as I switched the channel to another station) how I could remember watching Rhea Feiken on Ch 22 when I was in high school 30 years ago.  She really is a dinosaur and it's no surprise to learn that she guides the programming on MPT; it's awful.

programming director, but you can't be as embedded as a shark tooth in shale and not have a deleterious effect.

      •  That name rang a bell (0+ / 0-)

I seem to remember some kind of investigative reporter or a simulacrum of same with that name, talking about consumer issues. Had to be in the late 70s, or so, when PBS and NBC were all my folks got.

I kind of giggle when  I see the local PBS (KTCA) trundling out James Taylor, Riverdance and Peter, Paul and Mary. I know it's a whineathon and they're going for the demographic with the deep pockets.

I should not make fun of that. But I once loved PBS, and in the years since, they've dumbed it the hell down (also public radio) in order to get people to shell out. Thanks again, GOP, for screwing things up.
