  •  the distubring thing about (0+ / 0-)

1/2 of the marriages ending in divorse, going back to what i was saying about being a single parent by choice, is that 2/3rds of divorse are initiated by women with the most common reason being reported is merely 'dissatisifation' which largely lines up with why my mom left; she was bored and threw us all under the bus, my dad worst of all.

    •  and there you have it... (4+ / 0-)

the cause célèbre for declaring the "abstinence only-single parents are evil" curriculum of the bush cabal as the one true way because you have proof of one person at one point in time who did something out of the ordinary.

Your mother may have had chemical imbalances or pressures she couldn't bear. Perhaps your dad wasn't quite the winning person that you believe him to be... for a partner.

Maybe he's a great dad, but a lousy partner.

And maybe it's okay for a dad to raise the kids and it's not the end of the world when it happens. Nor does it mean that all single women are sluts or that they are destroying the United States.

Most single moms are very strong women. And they don't take no shit. And that is what scares the bejeebus out of the wingnuts.

      on women.

Shit happens. Marriages end for a myriad of reasons.  I could start citing statistics for how many end because HE cheated, and how many fathers are absentee (far far more than mothers that are absentee), how many don't pay their child support.

Fact is, none of that matters.

Women not evil. Your mother was not evil.  And a little therapy might do you some good (and I don't mean that in a mean spirited way).  You seem to have some issues that cloud your thinking and perhaps your ability to forgive.  People get married for all kinds of reasons, and divorced for all kinds of reasons.

And I don't buy the 2/3 of divorces are initiated by women with the most common reason being "dissatisfaction."  That is disingenuous and only furthers your personal issues rather than your argument. I did divorce law (I'm a paralegal) for about 5 years and not one marriage ended over "dissatisfaction" ... there were many reasons, and that was never one.  The most common was infidelity, and the second was money.
