  •  Coal station waste (1+ / 0-)

The toxic particulate crap from coal-burning power stations is stored in open lagoons. That includes tonnes of radioactive materials (uranium, thorium, radium etc.) the smokestack precipitators trap each year.

Uses have been found for this coal station waste; it can be included as filler for concrete, dumped in landfills for reclamation and even deployed as an agricultural supplement since it is high in organometallic compounds. Treating it as real waste is kind of difficult since there is so much of it, unlike radioactive waste from power reactors which is miniscule in comparison.
