    they let him slide on the warrant because it was minor. Where I live, bench warrants for stuff like unpaid traffic tickets generally carry a "pickup distance", i.e. how far the issuing department is willing to drive to retrieve the offender. Fifty miles or so is common for something like an unpaid ticket. The distance increases with the degree of the offense. A truly serious charge has no such limitation.

    It all depends on the crime. It's not cost effective to make a 500 mile round trip to pick up a guy who faces a small fine if convicted.
