    What I can't understand is why these people don't believe that God's creation is valuable.

    The scriptures you quoted obviously recognize the need for man to manage his farmland, because there is the possibility of a man causing harm to the land:

    “You shall not pollute the land in which you live…. You shall not defile the land in which you live, in which I also dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the Israelites.” (Numbers 35:33-34)

    I guess Inhofe's thinking, taken to the extreme, would be that world-wide thermonuclear war would not have any impact on the environment.

    In a way, he is correct.  The Earth will still be here, even if Man has made it unlivable.
