Great diary J&H. I knew it would be.

Tennis is a great game,  and it can be played at all stages of life, just at maybe a slightly more...deliberate pace. The major limiting factor is availability of public courts. We need more of them in our parks, schoolyards and playgrounds.

I watched the King-Riggs match that September, and of course was glad King won. Riggs really did seem a bufoon, and not only mocked women's abilities but even the sport itself.

At the time the match seemed like a distraction, since in the air were rumors about Spiral Agnew---soon to resign in disgrace as VP of the United Snakes for taking cash bribes in office---and ol' Nixxie was defying court orders right and left...and plotting an upcoming Saturday Night massacre less than a month later.

You metioned Margaret Smith Court. I had no idea what an active homophobe she had become in Australia.

Thank our stars for Billie Jean.
