  •  what qualifies you to speak for the Afghans? (0+ / 0-)

It is obvious that this diary or an official apology from the president himself will not stop the anger from the Afghans.

But it seems you are going after the diarist here and I do not understand why you are angry with her.

    •  I can't explain to you my feelings (0+ / 0-)

other than saying that I am not angry directly at her, but have my own emotions about "apologies".

May be this can help me to express it. It took more than 25 years for a German politician to express an apology for atrocities done by the German people, of which every German knows, you can't apologize for.

This one is the only one, which I remember in my lifetime as one, that was emotionally accepted as a way to express an apology by the German people and may be by the Polish people. It was  a rare event I have witnessed where a silent guesture (unexpected to happen in this manner) that had a healing effect. It was unplanned, it took over 25 years to get to this, it was just one man, who was able to do it. I am sorry, that I am so sensitive with apologies. I think that being silent sometimes beats words.

than at least trying to show one is sorry for what their fellow citizens or government did.

        Peace
