(of COURSE it was a guy) who argued that he supported those kinds of laws because companies should be free to hire and fire employees at will.

That's called "completely missing the point."

    •  You know, I hate to say it, but.... (0+ / 0-)

this country would be a hell of a lot better off if a woman, a Democratic woman, were running it, and a majority in both chambers were women.  I'm sorry....women are subjected to so much more crap in this world, in SO MANY WAYS, than men are....starting with their monthly ritual.  They should be running this country, not men.  We have to carry future men for nine insufferable months, pop them out, and see them grow up to ultimately slam their self-righteous, backward, neo-Con, misogynistic views and behavior in our faces....and they still earn more money in most instances, for the same work done, than women.

So many men...the Republicans in particular, support insane, pro-corporate laws just as your friend or guy you mention up above does.  I guess they all think that THEY TOO will own or become a CEO one day, and that, to that end, they better start thinking like the idiot they hold to such high esteem.  K-Mart Republicans...people who can only DREAM of having the wealth that these corporate pigs do who have the audacity to say that women should be subjected to taking whatever the hell test they want them to take, because they CAN MAKE them take the test.  They have POWER to SUBJECT a women to take COSTLY, INVASIVE, EMBARRASSING, USELESS tests, just because THEY CAN.  And these idiots are running companies.  They can all go to hell.  But until they do thankfully die, it is up to the sane half of this country to denounce this type of thinking and consequent legislation, and keep it from passing.
