    such an under-reported topic.  I'm sure there are lots of fans of sensible transportation on DailyKos, so let's hope your great post inspires many more to come out of the trolley barn and report!  While local support for well-planned rail transit is often strong, there does not seem to be a large national movement - which would be helpful on so many policy frontiers (from sprawl to climate change to simple urban and community design).

      But I grew up in New York, where nothing else other than mass transit even begins to make sense.

      Wherever I go I try to ride on whatever form of local rail transportation there is, just for the hell of it...though strangely enough I've never ridden Portland's.
