  •  Maybe this is "elitist" but (8+ / 0-)

I don't want to live in the same country as these people. I don't want the senators and congresspeople they elect voting on our SCOTUS appointments making laws that affect my life. This stuff makes me crazy. I want two separate countries. Would that be fair if we give them a year's notice before we close our borders?

and California, too? I've got a brown-skinned friend living near Riverside, CA who had racial slurs thrown at her at a PTA meeting. There are places here in "blue" Oregon where black and brown folks clearly aren't welcome.
Yeah, there are things that suck about the South, but they're clearly a part of the U.S.

everyone thinks like you? Good luck with that, even on this site you could find plenty of people whom probably disagree with your opinions on a lot of things. And yes all this "two separate countries close our borders" thing is terrible elitist and arrogant.

"everyone thinks like you" and "I think Obama is a Muslim and evolution is false."

Yes, I would like to live in a place where people have the elementary grasp of reality necessary to reject idiocy like Obama's Secret Muslim faith and to accept basic scientific principles. A sense of humor is also nice.

evil government money.    Make them 'live within their means' as Republicans like to say.  I know Oregon could use the $1,000 per person we pay out for the early childhood education program we just started, or the community clinics and insurance exchange we're building for 2014.

do a study on just what would happen if we separated the country by blue vs. red states.  My assumption is that the blue states would be far more prosperous.  Then again...

Would we be so happy to have a military that dwarfs all others combined if it was a line item deduction on our paychecks next to FICA."
