  •  "I don't care about the middle class." (7+ / 0-)

I was talking to a friend about politics a few months ago.  He's in his late forties, has an 18-year old son, makes a very comfortable living and will probably inherit a big chunk of money some time in the next 10 - 15 years.

I was expressing some confusion about why so many well-off people (whose futures are pretty entwined with how well the markets do) didn't seem to understand that if you kill off the middle- and working-class (and drown the government in a tea cup), there won't be enough demand to sustain the economic activity that makes stocks and bonds grown in value and throw off income.

And he said harshly, "I don't care about the middle class."  Well, what about your son?  I asked.  And maybe even your grandchildren some day? Don't you want them to be able to build the same kind of life you have?
