    felons are not permitted to vote in some states.

    You also need to be of a certain age and a citizen.

    None of those restrictions apply to our right of free speech.

      by a law, it's not automatic.  and have you hear of free speech zones?  Looking at citizen's united, I'd say Free Speech is so free anymore.

      The Court has been crystal clear on that count. It isn't, however, an absolute right, hence the permitted restrictions.

      The Court has also permitted many restrictions to free speech, free exercise, no search and seizure, etc. They're still rights.
