    Thank you for sharing it.

"You're on your own" within the context of a society IS sociopathic. - kovie

I have thought for a long time that this is what we should be talking about, in general and specific -- what kind of world we want to build.

The counterpoint of course is from Bacevich -- or Havel for that matter -- there is a discourse of "common sense", that mess of things everyone believes or pretends to believe, the cover and lie of ideology, the ways it serves power at large and the individual need to conform and fit in.  And much of the point by point refutation stuff is designed to somehow get a little humanity into a rigid system of things that we have all decided -- via the media, via our churches, via our friends, via Rush on the radio -- make up the narrow band of what is true.   Much as I like Lakoff, I think the problem is that to articulate a clear moral vision, in a society this far to the right, means surrendering access to that "common sense" dialog of what is acceptable, for a long enough time to let the empire go wonky.  And hey, I'm going to be first in line to vote for Obama, so I get that reluctance.

      Anyway, back to the homework...

...j'ai découvert que tout le malheur des hommes vient d'une seule chose, qui est de ne savoir pas demeurer en repos dans une chambre.
