for Confirmation Bias, it's awareness of your own potential biases and a being willing to challenge them.  This is why I use the "addiction" analogy, the afflicted have to make a conscious choice to fight to improve their condition.  None of us can make that choice for them.

When you get further into the biology, rather than the pathology, I'm a little reticent to want to call Conservatism an actual physical "Disease" or mental malformation.  That would take us to creating medical solutions for political problems, not a pretty place to be.

It raises a lot of weighty questions that do tax the conscience.

What's materializing before us is the revelation that we've been trying to cure mental illness with reason/communication and delusionally engaging with part of our body politic as though it were not fully impaired.

What would have been a hyperbolic insult about the right wing 10 years ago is now for all intents and purposes a clinical fact: it's a violent sector of the species characterized by (proud) disregard for truth and a bare desire to harm.

There are no shared concerns (they would gladly harm themselves to harm/spite us) and we can't continue dignifying criminal barbarism as a "political viewpoint."  Can we?
