they are doing the same job as a men?

    •  there seems to be a disconnect in the definition (0+ / 0-)

between equal work for equal pay.
I absolutely support eqaul work for equal pay.

some consider it to mean equal pay for equal job titles regardless of the work done and i can't support that.

It sort of reminds me of a picture i saw a while back of a couple eating dinner and they both seem happy and the guy says "I'm the guy. i should pay"

then in the next frame there's a couple of coworkers the woman is carrying a box labeled just couple pounds and the guy is carrying one labeled 80lbs and the guy says "I'm the guy iget payed more." with the woman looking clearly pissed off.

under each of the frames it's they are labeled "Chivelry when they like it" and "sexism when they don't"

      •  I find that joke sexist and something rightwingers (2+ / 0-)

talk about who tend to think males are always persecuted.

I am not sure where you are coming from, to be honest, and you seem to agree more with conservatives on these issues. It does give me pause , to be honest.

        •  i don't know how it's sexist or rightwing (0+ / 0-)

          to ask for equality.

perhaps i could ask you a question. In what area of society do women have it worse other than pay that isn't directly connected to biological differences?

          •  Well, see that's the rub isn't it (2+ / 0-)

The biological differences are not adapted to by the environment, so they are at a disadvantage.

For instance, when they do jobs that are more difficult physically, those jobs could be changed to make them easier physically, while accomplishing the same thing. But they usually aren't, and then the women are penalized for not being able to do them.

After all, that's why heavy machinery was developed, so that men could do more. Why not do the same for women doing the same jobs? There's no reason for heavy lifting, or whatever. We have things like levers, pullys, hydraulics, and other mechanical implements to make things easier. Why not use them?

            •  while yes machines make things easier (0+ / 0-)

they aren't always practical such as having to lift things on a worksite without an even ground.... but we're getting off topic because i support equal pay for women.

I'm generally asking for men to be able to gain equality in other area that women have past men up in such as

              1.child custody,
              2.equalization or removal of alimony,
3.child support based on the needs of the child and not on the income potential of the non-custodial parent
              4.college admissions
              5.jail terms
              6.health care
              7.housing
              8.removal of predominent abuser policies.

none of this is right wing or conservative. The information is anywhere you look. You might find some sites that attempt to justify these differences or treat them as not serious.. but i treat them as serious. Ignoring some very very simple equality fixes and putting up left vs right boundry on it could turn the men's rights movement into a right wing movement when it doesn't need to be. The left COULD own this issue and take it from the Limbaughs of the world and deflate it's growing presense before it becomes very inconvienant by enacting VERY SIMPLE reform that hurts no-one and could end up helping a great deal.
