  •  Bush's crime legally was the "supreme crime" (5+ / 0-)

In international law and the doctrine of collective security, Bush committed a crime called "war of aggression."

The idea is that under collective security and the UN Charter, no nation may start an unprovoked war -- that's what Hitler did.  If everyone abided by that rule, there couldn't be war.

Since bad guys won't abide, the second part is that country's have a right to self defense and to use force if approved by all other nations in the form of the UN Security Council.

While Afghanistan was justified, Iraq was a war of aggression and the supreme war crime of all.

Kony is awful, but he's basically a lunatic who inherited a lunatic fringe militia that started out as a rebellion against what they considered oppression by the Ugandan government.

Yes, they're horrible, but technically Bush's crime, committed as a head of state, was worse.

    •  No, technically, it isn't. (0+ / 0-)

      •  No technically it is. You can look it up (2+ / 0-)

No need to trust an internet poster.

The "supreme war crime" in international law is starting a "war of aggression."

You may disagree with how international law ranks war crimes, but you can't really disagree that such a ranking exists.

Iraq was a war of aggression, and therefore Bush is guilty of the "supreme war crime" in international law.  Kony is guilty of other war crimes.

Sorry, it doesn't get worse than that. Stop it.

Google "supreme war crime".  The result is "war of aggression" and "crime against peace."

As I said, you may have an opinion that international law is wrong in saying that the supreme war crime is "war of aggression" but you can't legitimately say that the supreme war crime as a factual matter isn't "war of aggression."

Then again, on DK people tend to make up stuff and live in their own "factual" worlds.

To initiate a war of aggression, therefore, is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole.

          •  It's being counted as crimes against humanity (0+ / 0-)

I believe the goal is to see Kony once caught brought to the Hague to stand trial for crimes against humanity. This may deter other despots as well as criminal regimes to think twice. This reminds me a little of Afghanistan.
