  •  Well, let's talk about that a bit. (0+ / 0-)

I really dislike religious folks who are negative. I also dislike atheists who are negative, which I find many are. Perhaps you and I, Billy, need to write a diary together about this. I'll do it with you. Totally. I don't want to be "that guy" who's a negative nellie. Perhaps what you and I need to do is talk on line more one on one and put our heads together, because I truly believe that many of we progressive people of faith and progressive atheists have a lot in common and need to learn how to work together in the secular world. I believe this. I know you do too.

read your last comment through my eyes.

Was it really necessary to add that bit at the end?  Imagine if you saw an atheist write that many Anglicans were negative or many Christians were negative.  And imagine you saw that same person repeat that kind of statement over and over.  Maybe sometimes it was even on the rec list.  Would you just ignore it?  Besides, I'm guessing that the majority of atheists you know you don't even know are atheist.  And isn't it possible that your perception of those negative atheists is based on false preconceptions.  I know you think at least some atheists have false perceptions of Christians.  Isn't the opposite also possible?

post down thread. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. You have a right to be an atheist, and I would defend it to my death.  Now what I want to know is how people like you and me can work to make the world a better place. I want to work with you. Progressive Christians and atheists have a lot in common, especially when we're liberal. Let's work together. Let's not just be friends, but let's work together.

this one.  Regretfully, I wasn't around for those pie fights so I really don't know what was said.  I find it noteworthy that the diary you directed me to contains more examples of you chastising atheists.  Now I'm by no means suggesting that atheists are never in the wrong, but why must you always be the one to point them out.  And why ignore the sins of theists.  Someone, I forget who, once said something like, "Why concern yourself with the mote in your brother's eye and ignore the beam in your own?"
