had to know he would be political "toast."  I would love to know what "choke-hold" the Kochsters had on him.

How could ReTHUGlican legislators not understand that even if people were not upset by the attack on collective bargaining, the back-door deals, no hearings, law breaking, and dictatorial tactics would be seen by fair-minded Wisconsinites as an absolute trashing of our political heritage?

ReTHUGlican greed, desire for political power, and blinding ideology obscured a Wisconsin reality:  Badgers fight back!  The Kochsters "played" ReTHUGlican legislators (such fools); and when no longer useful as the tools they are, the Kochsters will discard them like last week's trash.

"I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.' Just who do they think they are?" Barry Goldwater

the radical agenda because they thought they would be unstoppable.   In control of the entire state government they knew they would be redrawing the legislative maps (in the GOPs favor of course) and passing voter suppression legislation that would keep those pesky Democratic voters away from the polls.

Their arrogance made them think they could do anything they wanted and get away with it because of voter suppression and gerrymandered districts.  And they had money money money on their side.

They put everything they had on the table and bet the hard six.  They thought they would have power forever.

Hubris - gets them every time.

Or richer. Or would open a place for them at the bottom of the drainpipe so they could swallow all the gold pieces flowing off the Koches roof . . .

permanent power in this state and others with big Republican state takeovers.  The same way that Tom Delay did it in Texas through massive attack ad money electing a majority of Rs in all branches of state government and then gerrymandering the redistricting to make it difficult, if not impossible, for Democrats to be elected in the future.

This is why the 2010 elections were so toxic.  It was a redistricting year.  Win big with Republicans and you can rig things to keep power in perpetuity.

What has done them in, though, is their extremism in pushing through so much of their hateful legislation as fast as they could ram it through the governments they now totally ran.  They fogot that the frog jumps out of the pot of boiling water unless it starts out in cold water that is gradually heated to boiling.

Had they done it a bit at a time, they would have gotten away with most of it, like Reagan did nationally when he started the destruction of the middle class.  But in their arrogance and greed they wanted it all right now.
