*sigh, why does/would anyone ever believe Republicans negotiate in good faith after soooo many reneges ? THEY LIE, period.

Once you figure out they are lying to you about race, you start to question everything. --molly ivins

    •  Nobody thinks that. There's some confusion here. (6+ / 0-)

The Republicans don't need to agree to go along with the cuts.  They can't pull out of the deal.  The "very bad deal" locks the cuts in, unless a bill undoing it is passed through both houses of Congress and signed into law.

It was specifically because the Republicans can't be trusted that the final debt ceiling deal was written to lock the cuts into place.  The Democrats don't have to trust the Republicans to keep their end.

      •  The good thing about this is we'll soon see... (10+ / 0-) many Senate Democrats will choose not to allow the Republicans to paint them as weak on defense in an election year.  We'll see whether all that leverage they've acquired through Republican over-reach that you say they've acquired will give them the willingness to make Republicans stick to their deal or whether they will choose a different path.

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

        •  I don't know if it will even get to the Senate. (0+ / 0-)

This is an opening move by the House Republicans as they try to pass a budget bill to send over to the Senate.  There are a couple of points in the House itself where these restorations can be killed.

          We'll see.

as long as the Republicans are willing to take hostages and Democrats are unwilling to force Republicans take responsibility for shooting the hostages, the Republicans will eventually win.

As long as the consequences of submitting to terrorists are less than the consequences of resisting terrorists, the Democrats will continue to screw us.
