that as much as I hate Palin even being mentioned, I would welcome her attempt to filch the nomination in some sort of convention battle, because I do believe she would get squashed.  She's a clever opportunist but also a narcissistic idiot, and enough Republicans know it's true.

But unless she has truly purified her inner circle of any sentient beings, she won't make this attempt.  Because if she had a handler with the sense and guts to reach out to other power brokers, they would make it clear in no uncertain terms how unwelcome her baby sealskin hat would be in the ring.

or if she did still make some sort of attempt, she would be doing even worse, as the more she opens her mouth, the more stupid she appears and the more people she disaffects.

The ignominious exits of Bachmann, Perry, and Cain were at least hopeful signs that the Right isn't 100% stark raving mental.

        •  Not Perry (0+ / 0-)

He was out for not hating brown people enough. That wasn't a hopeful sign.

            certainly didn't help.

But if he hadn't been such a dolt in the debates, they hordes would've been in his camp.

And let's stipulate that he proved himself a dolt in part by saying things that were so brazenly insulting to the base.  He didn't even have enough sense to pander on those things.

agenda to prolong the nomination until it reaches the floor of the Republican Nomnimation Convention.  But if this were to actually happen the infighting among Republicans would literaly give the election to Obama.
