  •  I do have to say the best GYNs (5+ / 0-)

I've had were men. A woman misdiagnosed my cancer; fortunately I got a second opinion. I called and told her there was no shame in sending someone to a specialist, that she wasn't expected to be an expert in all areas. She thanked me for the phone call but of course did not apologize; some might use that as the basis for a lawsuit. Two months after that call, she misdiagnosed a friend of mine. She went for a second opinion instead of waiting a month for a follow-up. The second opinion wanted to operate right away, but let her wait until the next morning. She had cancer in 19 out of 20 lymph nodes. I miss my doctor who retired. He'd been in a bad wreck and was told he'd never get out of bed again. All the tables were really high as he couldn't bend his neck. He learned empathy from that accident. The doctor I have now is just as good. Women should be able to be in any field, but they shouldn't imitate men when they do.

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed, and hence clamorous to be led to safety, by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." H.L. Mencken, 1925
