This statement is disgusting, but I've always been offended by the "rape and incest" exceptions anyway. They sound compassionate in theory but are essentially outright bans. How does one prove that a pregnancy is the result of incest or rape?

And if you believe abortion is murder, be consistent. You don't think women should have abortions because they're sinning when they get pregnant, but if the father is a sinner, then it's okay to kill a baby?

So, yes, Santorum is disgusting, but I'd rather they just admit they want outright bans than pretend they'd be compassionate towards victims of rape and incest, because there is no way to practice that "compassion."

    P.S. I am not a crackpot.

these exceptions work, anyway? A woman claims that her pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, and these GOP folks say okey-dokey, we'll take your word for it, just go ahead and get your abortion then?

More likely that they'll require some sort of legal finding, which of course can be dragged out, past the first trimester if necessary, then oops! Too late.

Victims of rape also have the right to NOT report the crime. These laws would essentially remove that right from rape victim who becomes pregnant and seeks an abortion. Shouldn't we be worried about Constitutional issues here? Oh, I forgot, a clump of cells takes precedence over a grown woman to these people.
