    It seems to me, though, that history and "justice" are being taught to the detriment of the other basic subjects.

    Our high school students are reading at a grammar school level.  5th-6th grade levels!

    Do our students know where Afghanistan is on a map?  Iran?  No, mostly they do not.

    Do we teach the recent history of Iran and how US involvement in that country helped lead to the current state of affairs?  The events in the Middle East provide very teachable moments.  Do we take advantage of that?  I highly doubt it.

    We are stuck in US history 150 yrs old in some desperate effort to find relevancy and "justice".

      it has a point of view, starting with what one chooses to cover

      the deliberate excluding of material that may undercut the narrative some wish to exclude is a value judgment that is inimical to social justice
