  •  Can Tommy Thompson even win his own primary? (0+ / 0-)

Does he have the stomach to move farther to the right?  I'm originally from Pennsylvania, watching Thompson try to move farther to the right would be like Tom Ridge making a pathetic attempt to move to the right.  Old GOP governors like Thompson and Ridge are a dying breed in their party, center-right Republicans.

    •  That's an open question (0+ / 0-)

Thompson was a very popular governor, and right now holds a healthy lead in the polls, but I'm really not sure that he'll win.  I'm sure he's willing to move to the right, but the question is whether he can do it successfully and move back to the center by November. Also, if he was facing a united opposition, he'd be in much worse shape. His situation is pretty analagous to Romney's situation in January.

      •  I hear you. According to PPP, Santorum is doing (0+ / 0-)

very well in Wisconsin so if Thompson endorses Mittens, it could hurt him in the primary.  I think Baldwin can beat him, he's just a little tougher to beat.
