Now that I'm thinking about it, people had some reason to suspect that was it for his self-contributions.  Perhaps just because he's only self-financed about 20% of his campaign's fundraising so far, compared to Rigell, who self-financed 66% of his campaign's fundraising--almost three million dollars.

Was about to chime in about all this with Rigell, but you hit the salient points. He's either super-rich or blew his kids' entire inheritance; I don't think anyone self-funded more for a House race than Rigell did last cycle.

This is Daily Kos Elections, not Occupy Central. Have you read our Mission Statement? If not, please read it now. (For the record, I am very much in agreement with most of what Occupy stands for and greatly admire people's willingness to put themselves in personal danger for the cause, but except where Occupy has an effect on campaigns and elections, it's not relevant in this corner of Daily Kos.)

It was a freaking joke. I meant either that Rigell was either able to afford his huge spending last cycle, or he spent every last penny he had. I suspect it was the former, I was making a joke about the latter.

We are talking about a Republican candidate, after all. The day we're not allowed to make jokes about Republicans is the day I quit this job!
