but hey, the thing was long enough.

Any examples in recent memory other than Johnson?

He gave his campaign almost $9 million!

Also, when you are that rich and well-connected, I think you probably achieve a particular level of political savvy and/or awareness peculiar to that 1%-er stratum. Johnson, for instance, certainly knew how to lobby for government money on behalf of his business interests—something which got him into hot water because he turned out to be an extreme stimulus hypocrite.

      •  Your second point is interesting but (0+ / 0-)

We don't really know how rich or prominent Schneider is, in that sense--I don't, at least.

I was referring to Johnson, not Schneider—that is to say, I think Johnson isn't particularly comparable not only because of his enormous personal wealth but also because of his businesso-political experience.

But it's possible that Schneider's business is comparable prominent (or similarly prominent on a House scale).  I wish we'd hear from some locals.

            •  I'm pretty sure that's not the case (1+ / 0-)

Could be wrong, but while Schneider seems well off, I don't think he's uber-wealthy and connected like Johnson. If he were, his fundraising would have been better.
