lets be honest here, the only reason we're hearing about it is that for once it was an innocent black kid being shot.  Because "White man shoots innocent black teenager", the first headline about this on dailykos, is a sexy, sexy headline.

Personally, I'd like to see more about the neighborhood watch, and how it became acceptable for random asshole to pretend to be cops instead of paying taxes to hire real police.

Global warming is the inconvenient truth, nuclear power is the inconvenient alternative.

Good point!  Tax-funded police at least have SOME training in racial sensitivity (although these cops in question here seemed to have been absent that day in school.)  Instead, the area was "policed" by a racist vigilante with a "death wish" and zero training or sensitivity.

Again, we can harken back to the post ciivil war times (and up until the 1970s or later)  when Southerners formed the KKK and used excuses about inadequate police protection as cover.  A vigilante is a vigilante, no matter what the era.

        aside:
It  may be a huge point to ponder in a hate crimes federal trial, whether or not Zimmerman said "(eff-in) coons" or not on the 911 call, but keep in mind his family is from Manassas, Virginia where that particular racial language was popular.
