  •  On The Empathy Point, I Always Recall The Rodney (4+ / 0-)

    King video and the amazing number of people who watched that scene and insisted that we all needed to know what happened, what was said before the video started before(?!) we could understand what we were actually seeing.

    Empathy would go a long way in preventing all kinds of injustice but it just doesn't kick in automatically for socially constructed "others."  Maybe that's what racism and sexism really are, empathy brakes.
