Not long after 9/11 I had to fly to Florida to help my dad who was ill with cancer.  I went through the metal detector with my WINNIE THE POOH baseball cap on.  On the other side they made me take said ball cap off and turned it inside out and wanded it.  Now I can laugh about it but then not so much.

my hoodie was made of such thin knit fabric there's no way I could've even hidden some Kleenex in it, much less any nefarious item.

      •  On one of my many hoodies, the hood is mesh. (4+ / 0-)

Black mesh with black sequins. You could see anything in it. I'ol bet they'd still have to check it.

I own and wear a fair number of hoodies. In fact, I'm wearing one  now. It's brown tie-dye and has a two-inch-wide pearly sequin band running all along the face frame portion of the hood. But because I'm a white woman in my 50s, I can be reasonably sure nobody's going to mustake me for a criminal, hood down or hood on. White privile

Why are war casualty counts "American troops" and "others" but never "human beings"?
