    They will always play the cultural marginalization game, but they will often lose it as well, as those on the fringe are also often on the leading edge.  But your point is well made.

    Although the approach you lay out isn't always easy, it should always be tried, because it isn't possible to know beforehand which conservatives one will be able to make a breakthough with, & those who are just not open to new information.

    It's so true that many people who self-describe as conservatives value many of the same things we value, & still use that mangled, twisted word according to the dictionary: prudent, cautious, not reckless, traditional,  etc.   How many people who consider themselves financially responsible--30 yr mortgage instead of falling forthe subprime scam, low interest but stable investments, fast repayment of credit & loan debt--use the word conservative to describe themselves as a result, & who instantly see, when given the opportunity, that single payer is fiscally conservative, & that our deregulated Wall Street is the opposite?

    So well done, well written, & keep enjoying Applebee's if this kind of diary is the result.
