  •  I'm a progressive and... (8+ / 0-)

...I buy my food from the local farmer's co-op market, eat 100% organic and...refuse to subsidize the corporate poisoning of my family, friends,

    ...I am a liberal and...

I do NOT (knowingly) spend any money with entities that  subsidize the g.NO.p political agenda.

You may have voted blue, but every day you unknowingly help dump millions of dollars into the conservative war chest. By purchasing products and services from companies that donate heavily to conservatives, we have been compromising our own interests as liberals and progressives. is a concerted effort to lift the veil of corporate patronage, so consumers can make informed buying decisions that coincide with their principles.

...I am so deep blue that...

I spend at least 4 hours each month helping to feed the less fortunate...

I respect all life (even after birth through their demise)

I understand the our corporatist political system is bought and...paid for (by the major Fortune 500)

    ...I am...

    •  And a remarkable number of people (6+ / 0-)

disdain you for those decisions.  Sad, but true.

a remarkable number of people disdain right wingers for the decisions they make.  It's a values thing. Not as much sad, as it is human to a.) gather in like packs b.) Fear what is different than them, c.) Judge what is different than them, d) fight what is different than them.  This is not always bad, sometimes necessary for survival, but not something that is a partisan quality.

indeed it is.  What I think has been kind of an eye opener for me is how muc that disdain is shared not just by Republicans, but also by a great many members of the Democratic coalition.  I can't see that that kind of reaction is useful.  I'm reminded of Deoliver's (I think) signature about how if you are comfortable in your coalition you aren't in a big enough coalition.  Reaching across social lines can be decidedly good for your mental health though, if only for teaching us all to chill out.  I know I need that.

regarding Denise's sig.  My experience in owning my own freelance business for nearly 25 years is that my success is directly correlated with my ability to bob and weave with things I don't like or agree with, to pick my battles, and to be willing to form imperfect coalitions---but coalitions nevertheless.

My daddy taught me in this country everyone's the same
You work hard for your dollar and you never pass the blame

When it don't go your way

Now I see all these big shots whining on my evening news

About how they're losing billions and it's up to me and you

To come running to the rescue

Well, pardon me if I don't shed a tear
They're selling make believe and we don't buy that here

--  (In the real world) they are shuttin' Detroit Down

While you are out coalition building...

...Do you you ever allow an absence of truth (aka lie) to stand...!?!?

...Do you allow the the unprincipled to "have standing" as if they have equal "footing"...!?!?

              I do not and...

    •  And how many minds have you changed? (0+ / 0-)

I applaud you on your devotion to always doing the right thing, but unless you are willing to be satisfied with just that, until such time as we have more people willing to support policies that, while not perfect, move us in the correct direction, you will be, shall we say, eating in the wind....

And the point of this diary was to discuss ways in which to bridge the gap with those who are -- if presented with the correct information in the correct manner -- willing to support liberal policies and vote for liberal candidates.

And my small semantic contribution to the struggle is to only use the word "right" when talking about directions.  Everything else is "correct"  ;-)
