  •  Mass Transit funding comes from the gas tax... (0+ / 0-) if you oppose an increase in the gas tax, where do expect that money to come from?

    In any event, while I support an increase in mass tranist funding, the need for roads is not going to go away.  High speed rail is viable for going from, say, Dallas to Austin or Los Angeles to San Francisco.  It's not so viable for, say, Missoula to Boise.  

    While we can and should do better on funding mass transit than we have in the past, the reality is that we're always going to be more dependent on the car than the higher population density countries of Western Europe.
