  •  Yes, mine is skewed too because I've lived (8+ / 0-)

the majority of my adult life in the midwest and northeast, but not in one state.  So I had to check California for the state I'd lived in longest (18 years) even though I've lived 14 years in Ohio, 9 in Michigan, 6 in Pennsylvania, 4 in NY, and 1 in Illinois.  Nevertheless, I realized taking the poll that I'm still an ignorant Californian when it comes to tornados despite 34 years in states that are more likely to get hit by them.  I know considerably more about earthquakes thanks to all those Bay Area school drills in my childhood.

One survey improvement note to weatherdude:  I didn't answer the question about relying on a siren because I don't know for sure that my town uses a siren system.  I suspect it does, but I'm not positive.  So you might need another box on that question for the clueless  "Not sure" respondents.  It’s actually pretty damning that I’ve lived here for 14 years and don’t know this basic safety fact.

Nothing amuses me more than the easy manner with which everybody settles the abundance of those who have a great deal less than themselves. --Jane Austen
