    Some of the framers were pretty badly shocked by how the press functioned once we were a going concern and some of them began to take office.

    The Bill of Rights' primitive press formulation, in combination with its speech freedom, make up the most disastrous construction in the history of democracy. However bad it was through most of our history, in our time they combine to make it impossible for the mainstream of the global superpower to know what's going on and to engage in civic debate.

    What to replace them with, God only knows, but sure as hell nothing remotely that simplistic.
