  •  Are you blaming the DPW for Falk? (1+ / 0-)

Or just something else DPW did that you feel disrespected the grassroots in the past? I don't think the DPW has any responsibility for the Falk candidacy, or the pro-Falk ad campaign. If they do, tell me what it is.

(sorry I'm a little late on the reply)

The previous governor, Jim Doyle, and the DPW weren't very good at cultivating a 72-county strategy in Wisconsin. The mindset was that decisions were made by a small group in Madison, and the rest of us got our marching orders.

Falk ran for AG at the urging of Doyle, primarying out a Dem incumbent (and then losing to van Hollen). Mike Tate, now the DPW chair, worked for Falk on that campaign. To date, Falk has used that same model of campaigns "wrapped up" with the big boys and girls behind closed doors.

I'm not blaming Falk per se for this (although much of the outstate rank and file still holds her to blame for primarying out Lautenschlager). She's using the old model - outmuscle your rivals behind closed doors and present your candidacy to the grassroots as a fait acompli.

I got involved in the state party after the debacle of the last election & the horrid campaign that Barrett ran. We can't have the party leaders deciding who our candidates are - we, the people, need to be doing that.

      •  As much as I really don't care for Falk, (0+ / 0-)

I don't think Peg Lautenschlager would have done much better against Van Hollen. The OWI issue would have been big.
