my copy of the newest christopher fowler arrived today and i checked the bookstore regarding the new moore.  it's on pre-order too so, it will arrive the day it is released.

oh boy, good stuff to read, i was running low.  good in a way, but, a re-reading of lamb will have to wait.  not long though.

i need to vote in the poll for lamb.

i love the intro to lamb.  it sets the stage beautifully!

christopher fowler - not familiar with his works.  want to do a favorite authors diary on him?

michiganchet and i are soliciting new contributors, ya know!

and if you like chris, i know i'll like the other chris, too.  funny how the moore readers sort of define our outlook on the world by his vision.  8^)  i feel like i know all of his readers - for we share the same "sick mind".

i have a GUS diary for tomorrow.

i can do it another day though.

just tell me when and i'll start roughing one out.

mr. fowler writes the "peculiar crimes" series.  they're very quirky mysteries in london.  they're fun.

this should be fun.  thanks for the invite.

and input!  i love crime stories - and the more peculiar, the better!

will look forward to your diary.  oh, you can write it anytime and we'll schedule it to go live at 8pm pst (11pm est) next monday.

hope your allergies get better.  fortunately, tee's blood sugar seems to be quieter tonite - hoping it stays that way through the night.  several sleepless ones monitoring my baby dog.  it started the nite my horse colicked - then tee wouldn't eat.

i think he ate some grass at the barn and i didn't catch him and stop him.  upset his tummy and threw him off his regular diet.

sani pony is now fine but sulking because i'm making him wear his cribbing collar again to stop swallowing air and getting gas colicks - and tee is FINALLY not scaring the bejessus out of me.

                    catch up with you later,

                    e

with such complicated digestion problems. since food only moves one way in a horse's digestive tract, i know collick can be dangerous, otherwise i know little about them and their size intimidates me LOL.  i love to watch horses though.

i hope both your doggy and your horse feel better soon.  poor doggy

eat - that is worrisome as he has always had a voracious appetite.  i can "spork feed" him but that he is turning his nose up really worries me.

as for horse tummies and guts - 50-75 feet of small intestines and if they get a twist, that part becomes necrotic, and then either surgury or euthanasia are the only options.  to be so big and majestic, they are still quite fragile.  we take them out of the wild and confine them so they can't run free and add artificial feeding schedules (all day when free - twice to three times when kept confined) and the problems begin.

fortunately, sani has a very large paddock to play in and he gets turned out to kick up his heels as well as ridden.

don't be intimidated by their size, though - they are really "pocket ponies" - they love to be in your pocket! (cuz that's where the treats are usually found!).  they are incredibly gentle and intelligent and wise.  we can learn so much from them just by spending time with them and watching and interacting.

for example, did you know that when horses live in a herd, if two get into a squabble/dispute/fight - there is always a "peacemaker" who intercedes between the two who are fighting and works to bring them back into harmony.

it makes sense, because the herd is dependent on all it's members in the wild to survive!

someone always tells me not to be intimidated by their size, but it's never someone i absolutely trust.  i wish i knew you and your animals, or someone in the area who i trusted and who loves the animals like you do.

i love to watch horses though.  i think they are so wonderful and have truly always wanted to know them better.  maybe i'll find someone someday who is as knowledgeable and would be as wise as you are.

i've spoken to a kossack who has a thoroughbred (rescued) and she's enamored with horses and speaks so well and interestingly of them.

i remember, as a kid, i wanted one so badly.  didn't we all ? LOL.

i hope today is a better day for your furry and sleek friends.

                            to sani and his friends.

people often say that horses are "dumb" - but, the reality is that they have already decided that person (who makes the comment) is too stupid to talk to.  so, they ignore them - and when you have 1200 lbs of "ignore" - you are so "ignored" that you don't exist!

                            8^)

tee is still on the cusp.  he hasn't decided whether to go or stay - after coaxing, he did eat this morning but he is really slowing down and is debating the issue of staying or moving on.

i try to influence that decision without making him stay when he would be in pain.  the very high spike in his sugar without a specific reason isn't a good sign.  but, he's bounce back before - so i have hope.

bay area - california - would love to meet you!

unfortunately i'm in texas, the nasty repub state.  maybe i can get back out to the bay area some time soon.
