  •  The Blue County Project. (7+ / 0-)

One of these days, I'm gonna write a diary suggesting this. Probably after the election.

I think Georgia is the place to go, because:

    1. There are a lot of counties in Georgia with small population, meaning we'd need few progressives to have an influence.

    2. Many of those counties are largely African-American, meaning a lot of Dem voters already.

    3. The climate is good.

    4. I live in Georgia already.

    •  That sounds quite interesting (3+ / 0-)

especially as a place for Sunbelt progressives to go. Of course, there are similar arguments for a number of other places, for example:

      1. Many counties in the Driftless Area have low populations and population density, so we'd need fewer progressives to have an influence.

      2. Many of these counties are already moderately liberal, especially when environmental issues are concerned.

      3. The landscape is quite beautiful, and the climate isn't anything a heavy coat and shovel can't deal with.

      4. I live in Wisconsin already.

But for progressives living in warmer states, somewhere like Georgia is probably better than Vermont, Wisconsin, or the Pacific Northwest. Even for a cold-tolerant person like me, it took a few winters to get used to the climate here.
