  •  This is so harmful, I'm scared. (13+ / 0-)

Don't they realize they are alienating many of their own constituents?

And the DCCC still won't fund a strong campaign against Ryan....

    •  DCCC failure to act blows my mind (6+ / 0-)

Oh wait, isn't that what they have demonstrated since 1992?  I have moved on.  I no longer or listen or watch or contribute.

I vote not for the lesser of two evils but who will give me the most time to get rid of another millionaire congress critter.  I get that if someone is rich, they are not on my side with very very few exceptions.

was elected, they are counting our their constituents' racism and gullibility as a once in a lifetime chance to undo the New Deal.  Are Democrats up to the challenge?

      •  I was just thinking along those same lines - (5+ / 0-)

we have the Black guy on our side, and they hate him.  With the candidates the Republicans are putting up, we should be able to wipe them out come election day, yet we can't.  It's shocking, and I'm kind of afraid of what it says about where we're going.

    •  You overestimate the public's intelligence (7+ / 0-)

Yes, you would think that they are alienating many of their constituents.  But people vote on emotions, and there's a black man in the White House.  There's an assault on religion, and the government is trying to take over your life.  As long as they can sell hate and fear, they can get elected to do whatever they want.

Look at those tea partiers running around terrified of Obamacare.  These are precisely the idiots who will not be able to afford cancer screening or preventative health care, and will show up in ERs bleeding out their asses, and die in pain from colorectal cancer a few weeks later.  These are the people who will brag about self-sufficiency while the banks turn them from home owners back into renters.  These are the people who will brag about how American know-how is second to none, and how America rocks, while scientists migrate to Europe and technological innovation migrates to China.

People vote on emotion and identity.  That's not always the same thing as self-interest and more often than not contrary to logic.
