  •  As I have been developing the ideas (7+ / 0-)

in my series "Reading Ramblings" one can gain a great deal of perspective by stepping out ones usual frame and looking at the "system".  Such a perspective tells a lot.  The two parties are locked together in a stable system that is unable to change.  Their apparent struggles simply give a TV viewing public that is addicted to destructive consuming life style a reason to claim we live in a "democracy".  Politics is part of the TV entertainment.   The election of Obama served a real purpose in assuring that symbolic change would help prevent real change.  He has made the system more stable than ever before.

An idea is not responsible for who happens to be carrying it at the moment. It stands or falls on its own merits.

    •  The system revolves around two power centers (0+ / 0-)

that compliment each other, the national security establishment and the corporate capital establishment. Security occupies the government power sector corporations and all the subsystems that feed them occupy the public power sector. The two political parties serve that configuration of power that is stable in the structural sense that nothing disturbs that arrangement. That doesn't mean that the system can never change, just that changing the system is not what we are doing when we elect people to office.

Love = Awareness of mutually beneficial exchange across semi-permeable boundaries. Political and economic systems either amplify or inhibit Love.
