    I think that in this case he probably is being truthful in saying the military needs less money than Ryan and the Republicans want to shower on the military.  

    My comment above was more directed at the indignant tone McJoan was taking to the notion that a top military leader would lie to Congress.

    On the other hand, I think the chief probably knows that the military doesn't need as much money as he says it does.  In fact, the military doesn't need anywhere near as much money as the military reflexively says it needs.  And, so, in that sense, the military lies all the time about what it needs.

    This aggression will not stand, man.

      of your comment.  This place can be a bit schizo about the military and military officers.  Or almost anything done at the federal level because too much is filtered through partisan lenses.  Truly discouraging to see that when GWB did it, it was an abomination but when Obama does the same thing it's rationalized in ten different ways.

      Too many here are too attached to the argument, "even X (a Republican, general, rightwing judge) opposes latest GOP Y."  Seeking help from jerks like John -- bomb, bomb, bomb Iran -- McCain is a good way to continue being weak.
