  •  Thisa disturbs me more.... (13+ / 0-)

I know King is sociopath, but he only gets where he is by people voting for him. His presence in the House tells me more about the depravity of the people in his district than it does about him. In a just world, people would have to live in their own congressional districts the way their reps vote in the House. Of course, if that were true, no one in my own district would have medicare, medicaid, social security, a fire department, garbage collection, a public park, food stamps, roads, librarys, etc...Basically it would look like North Korea.

    Just another day in Oceania.

    •  With some it might be ignorance (6+ / 0-)

People will vote for those with the proper letter after their name without considering what the candidate stands for -- my mother hated Pete McCloskey because of his opposition to the Vietnam War, yet she voted for him because he had the requisite [R]. (To quote the opening of The Sims Medieval video game, "People...are dumb.")

For most though, it's probably that they just don't care as long as they've got theirs -- if he brings home the bacon to the district and doesn't get caught with a live boy or a dead girl, he's golden.

The optimist sees the glass as half-full. The pessimist sees the glass as half-empty. The realist just knows she's thirsty.

No structure, all self-reliant individuals, just like the good old days (what "good old days" I have no idea.)
