  •  It's the we part that haunts me. (4.00)
Knowing this won't change most people's opinion about our government.  The consensus of opinion is that we have to suspend civility to get the terrorists.  The reality is every time we endorse this sort of inhumanity we have bred 10 more terrorists who would love nothing more than to boil each American.

The other consideration that is rarely mentioned in the torture debate is that torture doesn't work, meaning we torture for sadism or revenge.  But we're the best country in the world.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were a war crimes tribunal when this is all over?

    •  You got it. (4.00)
Most Americans approve of Bush on protecting us from terrists. This is insanity, we have bought into terrorism forever.

Logic seems to be missing in our brains. Can we dumb this down to bumpersticker/tee shirt-think?

Something like: Bush Creates Terrorists at Frightening Speed through Killing and Torturing Other Races Than His.

I dunno, I'm not that smart and I get it.

People love to play tough and say they "understand" that torture is sometimes necessary and mutter on about "ticking time bombs"

but confront them with these pictures...confront them with the stomach twisting reality of that which they say they support, and its a whole different thing.

I've been opposed to what our government has been doing for a long time, but reading the revolting specifics in this diary, getting the visceral impact of what we are really talking about, has made me go far beyond mere outrage into true rage, true disgust, true righteous anger.

If we show people the truth,  force them to look,  this WILL Stop, and  maybe just maybe, some of the people at the very top of the food Chain will be forced to answer for what they've done...

    •  I refuse to lose faith (none)
in my country.  I don't understand why at this time so many can't seem to hear or see the obvious.  I'm not exactly sure about everything that needs to happen to enable my countrymen to acknowledge that things like this are going on.  I think it is a mix of many factors.  I just refuse to lose faith that Americans in general are never going to wake up at some point and think clearly to themselves that this has all been really crazy and evil horrors have happened and we perpetrated those things.
