  •  How old are you Tom? (8+ / 0-)

I remember a column in a kids magazine, Highlights I think, that was "Goofus and Gallant". Goofus would do things like take three cookies off a plate when someone offered him a cookie, and he always wore tshirts and had unkempt hair. Gallant would proffer a clean hand, wearing a suit and tie, take one cookie, and say "Gosh, thanks Mrs Miller, your cookies are always swell! Can I mow your lawn?"
This is a satire of Goofus and Gallant, I believe.
    Anybody else remember them?

    How about the Goops?

The Goops they lick their fingers
The Goops they lick their knives
They spill their broth on the tablecloth
    Oh they lead disgusting lives........

The Goops they talk while eating
And loud and fast they chew
And that is why I am so glad
I'm not a goop, are you?

a little OT but thanks for the walk down Memory Lane.

To keep our faces turned toward change, and behave as free spirits in the presence of fate--that is strength undefeatable. (Helen Keller)
