    I was just thinking that if Santorum fades soon, and the presidential primary isn't strongly contested in Indiana, who would that benefit in the senate race?

    My sense is that strong partisans would be just as likely to come out, while the "practical" Republicans might not be as moved. That could also spell trouble for Lugar.

      There may be disaffected conservatives who would have come out to vote for Santorum but stay home, and whoever comes out to vote for Romney is unlikely to feel that Lugar has been less conservative or more hypocritical.
