  •  Look to the Benedictines-- they are the liberals (2+ / 0-)

The Jesuits were essentially the shock troops of the counter reformation.  Remember the Inquisition? That's them.

The Benedictines, on the other hand, are pretty progressive.  Often pro-GLBT, lots of peace activists, their colleges are often among the most liberal of the Catholic schools in the US.

    Jesuits? Not so much.

Benedictines. I guess I had them mixed up.

I'm not sure daughter is actually interested in learning at a campus of any religious persuasion, but we had always heard good things about Jesuits and education. So we thought she should give it a look-see. We may give the Benedictines a look, too, but then again, she's pagan, so she may not find any religious school comfortable regardless of the quality of education they offer. It's sometimes hard to convince a teenager to keep an open mind when she has pretty strong feelings one way or another. The college search process with her has reminded me of her strong independent nature, which was much easier to enjoy when we were both younger. Now I have to remember not to accidentally step on her wings.

But thanks... I will pass on what I have learned here for her to consider.
