    was wrong to assume they, the neo-cons, were within American mainstream. Or, have to admit that perhaps American mainstream itself had been suckered.

    He seems to have recognized the danger from this political sect. At least that's what I take from his latest speech.

    Personally I think the greatest challenge facing the president this campaign is going to be reminding most of American mainstream what and who they are and that this government was instituted to act on the behalf of their welfare. And that we should all take pride in the fact that we have a system designed as such. That's not going to be easy after years of well coordinated government bashing and future well financed attacks.

    I guess what we've come down to is a fight for the very nature and role of the American federal government. And the lines seem to be clearly drawn between a minority of (mostly white) plutocratic 'social exceptionalists' and the rest of us.

    Interesting times. So interesting I think I'm getting an ulcer.
