  •  Hell yeah! (4+ / 0-)

Both were professional women and dismissed the help for the poor out of hand. Their answer on contraception was "hey I can afford $3,000 a year for my own birth control."

I pointed out that Planned Parenthood provides 750,000 pap smears and double that for breast exams to poor women every year and for many women those exams are the only physicians appointment they will have.

    Both said SO!

What really pissed me off was that I know one of them used PP as a graduate student because she couldn't afford tuition and healthcare coverage... frackin' short memory and sadly lacking in the empathy department.

I think many of us try to forget when our economic situation improves and we can use a private physician.  When we still lived in Colorado though I continued to use PP for my gyn needs because they are good at it too, I didn't have any big problems in that area and never had an abnormal pap so it was just easier to go to PP, easy to get an appointment in a timely manner, and they are damn good at providing the services they provide.
