The Dems probably didn't want to be seen suing to stop Republican legislation right after the session began.  They'd never hear the end of the criticism: "They're sore losers" "They won't let the people have their day" "They're running to their trial lawyers and their activist judges".

Instead, they took a lesson from the President, and gave them some rope to hang themselves with.

Conservatives need to realize that their Silent Moral Majority is neither silent, nor moral, nor a majority.

It sounds to me like the dems have let almost 600 laws go into effect that were illegal.  WTH

      Why????

They filed a suit, and then what?  If the press won't get the word out, what are you going to do?

        •  They just now filed a suit...600 laws past due (0+ / 0-)

Long enough to avoid the bad optics of suing the people who won the election.  Filing a suit too early would have been a terrible idea, especially before the Republicans were able to pass the worst of their laws.  If they had sued when the Republicans were still popular (having just been elected), it would have been terrible.  The people of Michigan would not have been ready for it, even if those on this site would have been.

When you're dealing with a sociopath and pathological liar, everyone has to see them for who they are, and that requires letting them be who they are for long enough for enough people to see.  Strike too soon, and they'll pass themselves off as a victim, and they'll eat you up, with the people gladly helping them.
