  •  Music training is essential for teaching an ADD (7+ / 0-)

    child to focus.

    •  I teach math; 3rd, 4th, 5th grade students (4+ / 0-)

I work with children who have learning disabilities of one sort or another. They learn best through activities that help them understand underlying concepts. I brought a keyboard into my classroom this year. I use it to teach multiplication facts, among other things. Some of the children that have ADD can sit for a fairly long stretch of time and practice the finger exercises that I have created to help them with their math facts. It is a great tool for learning. Math and music are a natural combination. We definitely need to fight to save the music programs in our schools.
