  •  I think we all assumed that Bush was an outlier. (17+ / 0-)

I would have expected even John McCain to turn back the clock on at least some of the excesses.

Barack Obama: So morally bankrupt that he thinks people who tortured other people to death should get a pass. Likes to prosecute whistleblowers and pot smokers, though.

    •  Instead, Bush just took a giant leap down the (3+ / 0-)

path we were already upon, and no one else has any desire whatsoever to walk anything back.

      We can vote for:

Corporate Candidate A who grants us some freedom from government interference in our private lives as long as we don't cross the security state which is privatizing government functions as fast as possible.

Corporate Candidate B who would further theocratic interference in our personal lives while continuing the enhancement of the security state for corporate profits as quickly as possible.

Nice choice.  Like the difference between "lightly roasted" or "well done," it is still dead meat.

What a Police State Looks Like: "On one side: soft human flesh, unprotected human skulls, cardboard signs, slogans they chant, armed with belief in 1st Amendment rights. On the other: helmets, body armor, guns, batons, chemical weapons." -- JanetRhodes
